Congregation at Prayer

Congregation at Prayer is a guide for meditation and prayer for the week.

Each week you will be encouraged to meditate on and commit to memory a Scripture verse, a section of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, and a hymn of the week as a part of your daily prayer and devotional time. This will encourage us to reflect more deeply on the unchanging truths of God’s Word.

Verse of the Week: John 15:26

“When the Comforter comes, Whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, Who proceeds from the Father, He will tell the truth about Me.”

Hymn of the Week: Christ is the World’s Redeemer LSB#539 verse 1

Christ is the world’s Redeemer, The lover of the pure,

The font of heavenly wisdom, Our trust and hope secure,

The armor of His soldiers, The Lord of earth and sky,

Our health while we are living, Our life when we shall die.

The Catechism: Creed—Table of Duties–To Workers of all kinds

Ephesians 6:5-8
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just
as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you,
but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as
if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward
everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

The Collect for Exaudi
Almighty, Everlasting God: Make us to have always a devout will towards Thee, and to serve Thy Majesty with a pure heart; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen
