Congregation at Prayer

Congregation at Prayer is a guide for meditation and prayer for the week.

Each week you will be encouraged to meditate on and commit to memory a Scripture verse, a section of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, and a hymn of the week as a part of your daily prayer and devotional time. This will encourage us to reflect more deeply on the unchanging truths of God’s Word.

Verse of the Week: John 16:28

“I left the Father and came into the world; and now I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.”

Hymn of the Week: Our Father, Who from Heaven Above LSB#766 verse 1

Our Father, who from heaven above bids all of us to live in love

As members of one family And pray to You in unity,

Teach us no thoughtless words to say

But from our inmost hearts to pray.

The Catechism: Creed—Table of Duties–To Parents & Children

Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and
instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and your
mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“that it may go well with you
and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

The Collect for Rogate
O God, from whom all good things do come, grant to us, Thy humble servants, that by Thy holy inspiration we may think those things that be right and by Thy merciful guiding may perform the same; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen
